Your Captain

A Coast Guard licensed captain with 40+ years boating experience, Ken Brigham has sailed the East Coast from Maine to Florida and offshore to the Bahamas. He sailed from a homeport on Casco Bay and has had the opportunity for extensive exploration of the Coast of Maine. Captaining charters has been a summertime avocation since 1990. A Bowdoin College graduate and a Psychological Examiner for the Portland School System before retirement, Ken has also co-hosted a Bed & Breakfast since 1986.

The Sailboat

SYMBION is fully equipped for safety and comfort. She has a generously sized cockpit, cushioned seats, bimini and spray dodger. All sails have roller furling. A full array of electronics, which includes radar, GPS, digital charts, depth sounder, autopilot, and VHF are aboard.

The boat, a tri-cabin/aft cockpit design, has a roomy layout with abundant ports creating a bright and airy feeling throughout. The main salon, with spacious seating and dining table, provides a cozy place for relaxation. A well planned galley includes a three burner propane stove/oven, refrigerator, freezer, recessed double sink, and Corian countertops (as also found on the "head" vanity sinks). Overnight guests will enjoy the true queen-size berth with innerspring mattress, adequate locker/storage space, and private access to the head which includes a shower.

Coastal Scenery

Maine's sheltered coves, intricate river systems, pine studded islands and rockbound peninsulas offer spectacular scenic vistas and open ocean waters, the finest sailing along the Atlantic seaboard. Savor the sounds and smells that define the sea. We share the history and local folklore of the area, its maritime villages, lighthouses, and islands.

Seguin
Seguin Island and Lighthouse

Look for seal, and if very lucky, a whale. Shore birds such as osprey, diving terns, heron, and American bald eagle are often sited. Watch lobsterman hauling and setting traps, we can answer your questions about how it is done, and where best to devour them :)

Overnight Charters

SYMBION
will accommodate one party of up to 4 persons for a minimum of 2 nights. An extended cruise expands destination options to perhaps as far "Down East" as Penobscot Bay. Some favorite ports include Boothbay Harbor, Pemaquid, Monhegan and Damariscove Islands, or to the South, the islands and coves of Casco Bay. Nothing is more glorious than sunset and sunrise from aboard the boat. Please inquire for more information as we customize overnight charters.
